Created by Vader, Starkiller is a clone, and is his faithful apprentice.

This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.
- This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
- GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
- Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
- Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
- Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GML's and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.

| Required Costume Components
|
|
The following costume components are present and appear as described below.
|
|
|
|
Face and Hair
- Costumer is clean shaven or buzzed close.
- Longer hair may be hidden by the hood.
|
|
|
|
Neck Seal
- The neckseal is black in color.
- Made from leather or leather-like material.
- Tall and covers the entire neck from the chin to the base of the collar bone.
- Has no adorning features.
|
|
|
|
Hood and shoulder armor
- Shoulder armor is made from resin or other rigid material.
- Painted in alternating black and gunmetal grey tones.
- Has ten visible strips on each side beginning at the point located on the chest and arches around the shoulders.
- Open in the front and extends to the wearers shoulders on the sides.
- Wraps around the back of the shoulder blades.
- Collar begins at the bottom base of the armor and rises tall around the collar at the top of the wears shoulders.
- Wraps around the costumer's neckline.
- Two pauldrons are visible under the shoulder armor.
- The pauldrons have a raised edge along the bottom, with two raised lines that create a circular pattern over the center of the pauldron.
- Hood is attached at the top outside of the collar.
- Hood is made from a heavy duty natural material consistent with the rest of the costume.
- Hood is large and encompasses wearers head and has enough drape to extend to the edge of the shoulder armor on both sides when down.

Under Armor
- Rigid black leather or another strong material that easily holds form.
- It is semi-gloss and extends past the wearers shoulders.
- Has a collar seen at the neckline which displays a single piece of trim.
- Two strips of trim begin at the collarbone and arch down to the bottom of the shoulder line.
- It is shorter than the top of the chest armor.

|
Under Tunic
- A long sleeved shirt which covers the wearers torso.
- The sleeves are of normal fit.
- Black in color.
- Fabric is a natural material matching the hood.
|
|
|
|
Chest box and belt
- Chest box includes the following design elements:
- Rigid material.
- Gun metal grey in color with a matte finish.
- A raised central rectangle with two small rectangular indents in the bottom right corner.
- One large black rectangular inlay above the three thinner black rectangular inlays with numbers, symbols, and dots matching the references.
- Two small red lights on the upper right side of the box.
- Belt sets below the costumer‘s rib cage and is made from leather or leather-like material.
- Black semi-gloss sheen in color.
- Three strip designs are present in the top of the belt.
- The strips are visible in the front, on the sides, and in the back, but are covered by the tunic at four points.
- Belt fits snugly to the wearer and closes at the back.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- The belt box details are lit up.
|
|
|
|
Belt and Obi
- Belt and Obi are black and made of leather or leather-like material.
- The Obi is flat and wide and sits at the costumer‘s lower torso.
- Three bands of trim at the top, middle, and bottom.
- The upper and lower bands each have two horizontal stripes of matching material that extends over the back seam.
- Two long belts that are the same width as the individual panels of the Waist Belt begin at the front and end at the back of the costumer‘s right and left side.
- The Belt sits atop the obi.
- It is placed directly on the center
- Has a Vader-like buckle which is comprised of a circle and five lines creating a "V" shape towards the interior of the buckle.
- The buckle is rounded at one end and flat cut at the other.
- Aluminum in color.
- A small band of trim on the top and bottom of the belt.
- Has a small leather pouch attached to the costumer‘s right side.

|
Tabards
- Black in color and floor length.
- Extends to the wearer’s shoulder.
- Made of high quality cotton or other natural fiber.
- Ends just past the wearers mid calf.
|
|
|
|
Gauntlets
- Form fitting and rigid.
- Gun metal grey in color with a high gloss shine.
- The gauntlets are comprised of three pieces.
- Top piece extends just past the wearers elbow and is inset the main gauntlet.
- Main gauntlet is form fitting and is covered in circular rivet designs
- Wrist gauntlets come to a point at the base and cup around the hand in a funnel shape.
- The outer side of the top and main gauntlet pieces are flat with rounded edges.
- The top and bottom sides of the gauntlet have three flat, rounded rivets, while the outside of the gauntlet has four.

Gloves
- Simple black gloves made of leather or leather-like material.
- There are no adorning features on the gloves.
|
|
|
|
Skirt
- Made of black mid weight cotton or other natural fiber.
- Mid calf in length
- Composed of three panels.
- Two panels are located at the costumer‘s sides.
- Third panel is large and located on the costumer‘s back.

|
|
Pants
- Plain black material of regular fit.
|
|
|
|
Boots
- Black boots that are made of leather or leather-like material.
- Mid calf height.
- Boots are simple and have no adorning features such as buckles or straps.
- Boots have a spat that extends to the top.
- Spat has seams going down the interior and exterior sides.
- A strip of material is located on the ankle of the boot, extending down to the heel.

| Optional Accessories
|
|
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

|
|
Lightsaber
- The hilt matches references for the Dark Apprentice hilt.
- If the lightsaber has a blade, the blade is red in color.
