Context: The Force Unleashed: One of the most iconic and mysterious units in the star wars universe the Royal guard armed themselves with protective crimson armor and saberpikes in the Force Unleashed video games. The Emperors Royal Guards were often deployed to protect the Empires critical assets or, when needed, provide support for the Imperial Shadowguards.

The Sovereign Protectors Detachment has defined additional optional levels of costuming excellence.

- This costume may be approved, but until the library entry is complete, this costume must be reviewed by the Legion Membership Officer and the Detachment Leader, via the detachment's thread of the DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forums. This costume cannot be approved at the local level by your GML.

General Construction Notes
- All body armor components must be secured to the costumer’s bodysuit via snaps, velcro or a harness/strapping system.
- Helmet and armor may be matte or gloss, but the finish must be consistent across all components.
|
|
|
|
Helmet
- Painted either in matte or gloss-finished, in a red shade that matches the outer robe, with a mirrored red or (OPTIONAL) black visor that allows maximum visibility, but hides the wearer’s features.
|
|
|
|
Undersuit
- Undersuit should be made to resemble that which is seen on the screen. There are no visible pockets on the bodysuit.
|
|
|
|
Chest
- Chest plates must be shaped to mimic the visual reference, based on the ROTJ Storm trooper chest plate done in red. For increased accuracy ROTJ style edge trim can be added around the edges of the chestplate.
|
|
|
|
Back
- Back plate: Back plate must be shaped to mimic the visual reference. Based on a ROTJ style Storm Trooper back plate painted in red.
- The OII raised detail is to be removed and smooth as shown in the visual reference
- Can have Weatherstrip trim similar to the ROTJ stormtrooper back plate for increased accuracy

Shoulder Bells
- Shoulder bells must be shaped to mimic the visual reference and must have a duckbill style. This piece is based on the ROTJ Stormtrooper shoulder bell. This includes the raised Detail/Ridge that slopes down smooth to the duckbill section of the shoulder.
- The duckbill portion is half of the total length of the shoulder bell.
- The cutout may be perpendicular to create the shoulder bell. For increased accuracy the cutout should not be perpendicular and instead begins approximately halfway between the midpoint of the back (costumer side) of the shoulder bell and is cut at an angle which ends at the halfway point on the shoulder.

|
Abdominal
- The abdominal plates must be shaped to mimic the visual reference, consisting of 4 parts:
- The center ridge is approximately as wide as the inner detail between the chestplate pectoral details.
- The two outer ridges are approximately half as wide as the center ridge and are flush with the outer edges of the ab plate.
- The ab plate is approximately as wide as the outer raised corners of the pectoral details on the chest plate.
- The ab plate extends to underneath the chestplate and does not hang freely. It must have a hidden fastening system. (snaps or Velcro)
- The bottom of the ab plate ends underneath the belt. It must not show above nor below the belt.

Vambrace
- Vambraces / Bracers must be rounded/conical/cone shaped.
- Vambraces / Bracers must have rounded mobility cutout to allow for moving of the arms.
|
|
|
|
Black Gauntlet Gloves
- Black, leather or leather-like, enclosed fingered, non-textured, (normal leather grain/texture/lines are acceptable) fitted gauntlet style.
- No buckles, straps, or decorative stitching.
- Three straight lines, on the back of the hand (that match some references), are optional.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Gloves are made of leather.
|
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
- Gauntlets slightly flair-out, upward from the wrist to the mid-forearm.
|
|
|
|
Belt
- The belt is made of leather or leather like material 2 inches wide.
- The belt should have incised lines one eighth of an inch from the top and bottom.
- The buckle shall be constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material.
- Buckles are adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.

|
|
|
Kama
- Kama must match respective armor color, made of same material as the flight suit.
- The Kama is a trapezoid.
- When worn the Kama extends from the belt to the top of the costumer’s knee.
- The Kama only wraps halfway around the costumer. (Typically where the seams on the outside of the costumer’s pants/ jeans would be.)

Shins
- Shin armor must be constructed with the same material and color as the armor and reflect the style shown.
- Shins have a flat rectangular face.
- The shins have 2 flaps cut down from the top and up from the bottom as shown on the example picture.
- The flaps on the shins are folded back and cover the front half of the boot.
- The shins have 2 elastic straps which hold the shins onto the boot. The fasteners are hidden. (snaps, Velcro, buckles, etc. are acceptable but must not show when worn.)
- The elastic straps match the color of the kama.

|
Officer Boots
- Knee-high, black, riding style, lace-less, smooth non-textured, leather or leather-like material.
- There are no buckles, snap tabs or decoration.
- Boots have conservative heels.
- A single stretch panel or zipper may be present, they are to be hidden on the inner part of the boot shaft.
- Not visible from the front, side or back.
- The top of the boots may be flat or Spanish Style, but not Cowboy or Super Hero (pointed at the front) style.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
- Boots do not have stretch panels or a zipper.

OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
- Boots are made of leather.
- Exact replicas of English riding (dress) boots or Equestrian boots.

|
Spats
- The spats wrap over the top of the boot and are secured by a strap which matches the undersuit.
- The bottom of the spats must not extend below the top of the sole of the arch of the boot.

| Optional Accessories
|
|
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

Saberpike
- Saberpike is to match the visual reference set by the diagram of the Shadow Guard weapon. MAUL sabers on a stick are not acceptable.
|
|
|
Force Unleashed Shadow Royal Guard costume

Outer robes:
Outer robes should be constructed of red velvet or velveteen; inner lining must be constructed of black cloth material. These robes are to be done in the Episode 2 style: AOTC robes, with the following modifications. A single slit is to be added in the center of the back so as to be able to wrap the back of the robes around the hands, with the front robe section going over the shoulder on right.
